The Robert Frost Speech and Debate Society at Plymouth State University upholds the mission of Plymouth State University by promoting debate as a practical, communication-oriented activity that explores topics of significant interest to both local and global civic forums. We engage civic argumentation that, when witnessed by a member of the general public, would be viewed as comprehensible and enlightening. We believe in competitive functions of collegiate debate practices, competitive individual forensic events, and community-oriented debate opportunities that invite open dialogue between and along side the Plymouth State University Community and the local public forum at-large. To facilitate this mission, we subscribe to an audience-centered style of debate that would prevail in a variety of public forums that our graduates are likely to encounter and students participate in community service learning outreach with the local public middle and high school students as well as the Grafton County 4-H Club.
